Here in a light humorous tone, the collage ‘infiltrates’ the road marking, causing a ‘dis-order’ by hiding the horizontal line.  

קולז' כביש (קילקול שורה) חושף רוח היתולית ומעלה אצלי את הזכרון של 'לא להיות כמו כולם'. המכונה הקיבוצית כבשה את נתיניה כדי להביאם לאחדות שיוויונית כביכול מטשטשת גבולות. מי שהעזה להיות קצת אחרת שילמה מחיר יקר, הוצאה מהחברה, היתה 'לא מקובלת', או זכתה לכינויים כגון 'רגישה מידי', 'לוקחת ללב', 'מתבודדת', 'אסטרונאוטית' ועוד. 

Road collage (disorder) reveals a humorous sensibility and evokes a memory of being ‘not like the others’. The kibbutz system demanded equality and unifying behaviour from its members and children. This system supressed individuality and difference. The one who dared to be different ‘paid a high price’ by being ‘not accepted’, or stigmatized as ‘too sensitive’ and by being called derogatory nicknames.

‘Since from the day that we were born we were educated in the “kibbutz family”, we were not only at the hands of all the members, but they wanted to “bake” us like a dough in the kitchen, kneaded by experienced hands, placed in a baking tray and being baked – for his own good, as well as the kibbutz’s – as an excellent, unified bread.’ There, p. 32. סימון חדש לשטח חנייה מול המבנה ששימש כסנדלריה בה עבדו ארנולד ומסינגר. כיום משמש המבנה מרפאה ווטרינרית.

A new car park marking in front of the shoe maker building where Arnold and Mesinger worked. Today this place operates as a veterinary clinic.

הקולז' נראה כאן כפרגמנט זר לסביבה; הפס הלבן מאבד מכוחו הסמכותי.

קולז' כביש (פרגמנט) חושף את תחושת הזרות והבדידות שקיימת בתוכי בהקשר הילדות הקיבוצית. רק דרך פעולה מייצגית שמוציאה לאור תחושות אלו אני מרגישה, באופן פרדוקסלי, ב'בית'. ה'פרגמנט' קטן, מוצא מהקשרו כחלק מכביש (מדומין), חסר המשכיות, מוטל זרוק בחצר הקיבוץ. הקיום שלו ארעי, קצר טווח. המוסך שממול הוא עצמו סככה, מבנה ארעי שהיה קיים כל שנות חיי (52), ואפילו תחנת הדלק שנבנתה כמה שנים יותר מאוחר לא מעניקה תחושת יציבות. הצילום מצליח 'לתפוס' תחושה של ארעיות. הקיבוץ כארוע זמני, חולף. או מתחייה?

Here the collage looks like a fragment, alien to the surrounding; the white line loses it authoritative power. Road collage (fragment) reveals feelings of alienation and loneliness which emerge in the context of my kibbutz childhood. It is only through this performative action which allows these feelings to come to the surface of consciousness, that paradoxically, I feel ‘at home’. This little ‘fragment’ is taken out of its context as a (imaginary) road, lacks continuity; left on the kibbutz’s yard. Its existence is temporary, short lived. The garage opposite, not more than a temporary structure, was there all my life (52), and even the little petrol station which was built years later, fail to create a feeling of stability. This photograph captures a feeling of temporality. Is the kibbutz a momentarily, passing event? Or is it rejuvenating itself?

קולז' כביש (מול השער האחורי הישן) בצילומים אלו נראה שטח גדול הנשלט על-ידי כביש או אזור אספלט חסר סימון. הסימון היחיד בצילום נראה כלא שייך לסביבה. אפילו מכונית שעוברת במקום נראית לא שייכת. מרחוק נראה שער היציאה האחורי שבו עברו מן הסתם מכונות חקלאיות. אחת עדין נראית שם, שייכת לסביבתה הטבעית.

Road collage (opposite the old, back gate) These photographs show a large asphalt area un-marked. The only mark seems alien to its surrounding. Even a passing car seems somewhat out of place. In the distance the old back gate is visible, where large, heavy machines used to pass through it. One such a machine is parked, visible, and seems belong to its natural, agricultural environment.

מתוך התבוננות ומתן כותרות לצילומים ולפעולה המייצגית של טיול בקיבוץ מתחילה להתפרש תמונה תובנתית מסוימת. 

הכבישים בקיבוץ של היום מהווים חלק הכרחי מתהליכי השינוי וההפרטה, כשלהרבה מהחברות/ים והתושבות/ים מכוניות פרטיות. קולז' כביש (עם חץ) מראה סימון ישן, בלתי שמיש. הקומפוזיציה בצילום בנוייה משילוב של פרגמנטים: החץ, שולי הכביש החדש, סימון צהוב ישן והקולז'. ערוב ישן וחדש שיוצר מצב לא הגיוני.  

Today roads are being built inside the kibbutz, it is inevitable since many members and residents own cars. Road collage (with arrow) shows an old, dysfunctional road mark. The composition comprises of fragments: the arrow, the new road’s margin, an old yellow mark and the collage. There is a ‘collision’ between old and new markings which makes no sense.
